Shelley serves as part-time faculty at Des Moines University and Academic Advisor for 25 graduate students enrolled in the Master of Public Health Program in addition to her public health consulting work.
Shelley has been a member of the IPHA Advocacy Committee since 2012. During this time, she attended an affiliate advocacy training sponsored by APHA in Washington D.C. This training sparked her interest in meeting with elected officials during IPHA's annual PHACT campaign and continued her interest in advocacy for public health and its services.
Serving on the IPHA Board of Directors will allow Shelley to support Iowa’s Public Health system and those served by the programs within that system in a new way. "Too often, our agencies spend time competing for resources and territory. Our overarching goals are the same. Opportunities to collaborate on a larger scale provide a platform for achieving success. I look forward to this opportunity. "
