Louise Lex, Affiliate Representative to the APHA Governing Council

For nearly 30 years, Dr. Lex has worked as a state health planner, coordinating community health assessment and health improvement activities and developing state health plans. Her prior work experience includes serving as the employment division director for the Iowa Commission on the Status of Women and as an adjunct professor of Political Science at Iowa State University. For the last four years Dr. Lex has represented IPHA members on APHA's Governing Council. She is now a member of the Council of Affiliates, representing Region VII, the region that includes Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas (MINK). During her tenure on the IPHA board, Louise has been the champion for the advocacy committee, financially supported IPHA by teaching a Des Moines University graduate class, and helped develop the first grant proposal for IPHA's AmeriCorps HealthCorps project. Dr. Louise is keenly aware, of the role IPHA and APHA play in advancing the cause of public health.
